August 17th, 2008 - Bad Seeing

Imaging at Fox Observatory with the 14" LX200GPS in bad seeing... knew it was a bit of a lost cause but it was the first chance I'd gotten this apparition to capture Jupiter. This series shows the trouble with imaging in bad seeing (and possibly less than perfect collimation), and how this can be somewhat dealt with by imaging at smaller scales.

On the plus side it looks like I captured Red and Red Jr!

Taking the full sized f20 shot down to a smaller size helps with details.
