Ursa Minor also known as The Little Bear resembles a ladle which is why it’s also referred to as The Little Dipper. At the tip of the tail or handle is the alpha star Polaris a supergiant which is commonly referred to as the North Star do to its close proximity to the north celestial pole. The beta star Kochab is at the tip of the bowl or eye of the bear and is only slightly dimmer than Polaris but three times closer.
